Chalai Grama Brahmana Samudayam (CGBS) established more than a century ago, has rich cultural heritage. With the continued blessings of Lord Mahaganapathy, Samudayam is proud in conducting Panguni Uthram (over 90 years) and Sapthaham (over100 years, uninterrupted). Also, Vinayaka Chathurthy and Chenthitta Devi Gramabhisheka Chirappu are celebrated under CGBS, with splendour.
Eminent personalities of Samudayam include late Chalakudi N.S.Narayanaswamy, Violinist and late Vechoor N.Hariharasubramania Iyer, Carnatic Vocalist. Presently Smt.Parasala B. Ponnammal Carnatic Vocalist and Sri K. Sivarama Krishna Iyer, Flautist continue their contribution to classical music even after Navathy. Many Veda scholars and educationists who excelled in their field, in Thiruvanathapuram, hailed from CGBS. Kannan Bhajan Mandali, one of the oldest in the city for more than 3 generation, has a special place in Sampradaya Bhajan with its annual 41 days long Bhajanolsavam.
We are very grateful for your sustained support to the Grama Samudayam over the years which has enabled us to conduct its many religious and socially relevant activities in a very satisfactory manner. Indubitably appreciative and encouraging support from such members have remained the cornerstone of the success stories of our Samudayam.
We now feel it is high time to think of some positive commitments for the future. As you may be aware, we have been thinking in terms of constructing a new building after demolishing the existing Samudayam house for the greater convenience of performing various functions. Recently we have constituted a Building Advisory committee to oversee the construction and mobilise necessary funds.
It is needless to stress that a special resource mobilisation effort will be required to raise required funds for an early realisation of the project. We are sure that you would welcome an opportunity to be part of this noble venture for the development of our Samudayam which bears a proud legacy of more than a century. You will of course, appreciate that the future of such a glorious past will commensurate with the present dedicated efforts we collectively put in. With this confidence in mind, we are making this appeal to benevolent benefactors like yourself seeking generous support to this initiative. We invite liberal contributions which may be made by cheque / NEFT transfer payable to our bank account (details overleaf). Donations could be made in instalments, at your convenience (if opted, please advise us in advance which will help us fund management). All contributions to this noble cause will be gratefully acknowledged. In appreciation of the gesture of munificent donations, It has been decided that contributions of Rs.50,000 and above shall enjoy the privilege of having a name of their choice inscribed in a plaque in the main hall of the Sree Mahaganapathy Bhajana Madom.
